BOILER UPGRADE SCHEME

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a one-off, up-front payment of £5,000 from the
Government if you have a heat pump installed at your property. By installing an Air Source
Heat Pump instead of a boiler, the Government reward your commitment to renewable
energy and will reduce the cost of the install by £5,000. This is because Air Source Heat
Pumps are more eco-friendly than a traditional gas boiler as they do not burn fossil fuels. In
fact, by 2025, gas boilers will not be allowed to be installed in new house builds and by
2035.

How does the scheme work?

If you are looking to get a heat pump installed on the BUS scheme then you will need a MCS
approved installer like Eco Friendly Energy. Ofgem will ask you to approve that you are
happy with us making the application on your behalf. Once the application is approved, we
will receive a voucher code that will be redeemable once the installation of your air source
heat pump is complete. When your install is completed, you would then pay the remaining
balance, minus £5,000 and EFE would redeem the voucher code.
