So you’ve found the EV or PHEV that you like. Whether it is brand spanking new or second hand EV, you now need to get an EV charging point installed at home first and foremost. This will provide the right electrical current to your car and allow you to plug in and charge up before setting off on your next journey.

Electric vehicles can plug in to a standard domestic 13amp wall-socket. However, there is a safety benefit in having a dedicated charging station installed as well as decreasing charging time.

Yes, very much so. We supply 3 phase units that can charge at 22kW where there is 3 phase power available.

Our charging stations are compatible with most EVs currently available on the market. In the EU electric vehicles generally have a Type 1 or Type 2 socket so choosing the correct connector is important. We supply units suitable for both Type 1 and Type 2 applications, give us a call for support!

Charge time is dependent on a number of variables, including battery capacity and power available. Typical charge times are about 6 – 8 hours at around 3kW, 3 – 4 hours at 7kW, 1 hour at 22 kW and around 30 minutes at 43 – 50 kW.

The cost of charging your electric vehicle will vary depending if you are charging at home or at a public access charge point, which have different rates set by different networks, some are even free!

At home, charging your car will typically cost between £1 and £3 (depending on tariff) for about a 100 mile range.

The plug to plug cables Viridian EV supplies through ecoHarmony are lockable. The Type 1 cables have a small hole in the release trigger through which a small padlock can be inserted, locking the cable in the sockets. The Type 2 cables can be locked into sockets with an electromechanical locking mechanism whilst the car is charging.
